Nickname: "The Super Ruby"
Morogoro, Tanzania

It is a widely accepted opinion that the top rubies in the world come from Mogok, Burma. However, this specific ruby crystal from Morogoro, Tanzania, is certainly one of the nicest, if not the nicest, ruby specimen that I have seen in person. Most ruby crystals are very odd-shaped blobs that lack structured form. This ruby, on the other hand, has an excellent, fully formed, corundum crystal structure. The color is a perfect "pigeon's blood" red. It is extremely bright, almost as if it has a neon glow to it, and it actually does glow under a black light. Most rubies are generally very heavily included. While this ruby does have the expected inclusions, it also has complete gem sections throughout much of the crystal. Finding a ruby with all three qualities of exceptional crystal structure, color and clarity is beyond rare.
Note: This ruby is nicknamed "The Super Ruby," not only because of its super quality, but also because the Superman symbol is clearly visible on the front side near the center area of the crystal. The Superman symbol displayed is a white mineral that looks to be calcite.
