The Cruziero mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, produces unparalleled, "hot pink" colored tourmalines. This crystal is about as "hot pink" as they come. At first glance, this crystal appears to be a slice, but it actually has a termination. Usually a piece such as this is sold as cutting rough, and truth-be-told, I actually bought this crystal right before a cutter was about to purchase it. Although this crystal would make a superb piece of cutting rough, due to its exceptional color and clarity, I feel that it could work just as well if someone were to make a carving from this piece. A carving, in my opinion, would look great on the broken side of the crystal, with the termination and formed sides of the crystal left untouched. I have always loved carvings that still contain natural faces and terminations of crystals. This wonderful tourmaline crystal also makes an incredible specimen left untouched.
