This is not your average etched aquamarine by any standards. What truly makes this specimen so unique, beyond its wonderful display of etching and its calming, cool-water blue color, is the fact that this etched aquamarine crystal has held onto its facet-style termination. The termination is non-etched, even though the majority of the etching occurred directly underneath it. This extreme amount of etching under the termination is clearly visible. The etching process has eaten through the entire aquamarine, but somehow, the facet-like termination stayed intact. Wow! Stuck inside an etched-out pocket, along the side of the crystal, sits a herkimer-shaped, frosty-white quartz, that is entirely terminated. It moves around in this small, etched-out pocket within the aquamarine. If you shake the aquamarine around, you will hear the quartz bouncing around inside. This is an extremely original, mineral specimen.
